Using the wheel in the classroom

A random wheel takes the guesswork and the complaints out of choosing students, groups and activities. Everything runs in the browser, and names never leave your device.

Pick students fairly

Paste your class list into the wheel, one name per line. Choose No repeats until everyone is picked so that every student gets a turn before anyone is picked twice.

Press Start over at the beginning of a new lesson to bring every name back.

Run it on the projector

Press Full screen to hide the editing controls so the wheel fills the projector, then press Space to spin.

If some students find motion uncomfortable, their device's reduced-motion setting replaces the spin with a short fade.

Make groups

The team generator splits the same class list into groups whose sizes never differ by more than one student. Add a skill level after a name, such as Sam*3, to balance groups by skill.

Keep your lists

Save a wheel to keep it on this device, or export your saved wheels as a file to move them to another computer. Nothing is stored on our servers.
